New members John Stumpf and Kat McCabe
were welcomed to the committee. Committee members were encouraged to
nominate additional committee members that would increase the number
of non-US participants in the committee process.
Richard Fontana reviewed the timeline
for release of a second draft of GPL 3 in the middle of June, 2005,
and a third draft in the fall. He encouraged the committee to submit
an initial set of comments in writing by early May in order to have
them considered for the June draft.
The chair of each of the following
subcommittees gave a preliminary report on the work performed to
date: Definitions (Jim Harvey), Patent Licenses (Rick Friedman),
Anti-DRM (Philippe Aigrain), License Compatibility (Scott Feier), and
Internationalization (Til Jaeger).
